Sub-collection page templates ( for older versions of the theme only )
Introduction
In this section you will learn how to:
- Decide which version of the template to use
- Create the sub-collection page
- Connect the page to collections
1. Decide which version of the template to use
Loft includes a template that will show two products from a selected collection (https://loft-theme-demo-nashville.myshopify.com/pages/living-rooms) and one that will show five (https://loft-theme-demo-nashville.myshopify.com/pages/artwork).
In general, the two product version is great for stores with lots of sub-categories and few products, while the five product version is great for larger product catalogues.
2. Create the sub-collection page
Create a new Shopify page, and give it a title fitting for your overall category. In the case of our Nashville demo, https://loft-theme-demo-nashville.myshopify.com/pages/living-rooms, we've used the page title "Living Rooms"
Inside the page admin, change the Template suffix to either page.list-collections-2-products or page.list-collections-5-products.

3. Connect the page to collections
The last step is to create a new shopify Navigation menu that will connect to your new page.
Inside the navigation settings, create a new menu, and give it the exact same name as the page you created in step 2. This is critical, as this is how Shopify makes the "connection" between your new page, and the collections that should display on it.
Next, add new sub-menu items for each collection you'd like displayed on the new page. In the image below, you'll see we have a link for each collection, with the dropdown set to "Collection."
Note: if you link to a collection, you'll want to make sure the collection has a featured image uploaded to it, otherwise this page won't display correctly.
